The General Café in Mount Maunganui

"⭐ 5/5 – A Perfect End-of-Year Breakfast Experience! ⭐ I visited this café today the general in mount with our office team for our end-of-year breakfast, and it was absolutely wonderful. From the moment we walked in, the hospitality stood out. The staff greeted each one of us so warmly, and the lady at the till was incredibly sweet and patiently guided us through the menu. One of the items was unavailable, but she promptly checked with the chef and arranged a great alternative for us. The coffees were top-notch — honestly better than many we’ve had at big corporate meeting spots like Starbucks. There’s something special about the flavour and consistency here. The food was extremely delicious, and we enjoyed every bite so much that we forgot to take photos! A big appreciation to the two lovely girls who served us with such warmth and smiles throughout. I wish I had caught their names to thank them personally. Highly recommended café — amazing service, amazing food, and truly amazing people. We’ll definitely be back soon."

"Love this cafe! It has a beautiful vibe, light and beachy and quite spacious. Indoor and outdoor seating The baked goods all look phenomenal, the date scone I got was warm, and moist (which I’m often disappointed with a dry scone so this was a big win) I got the pecorino croast - which was FANTASTIC! I’ve been thinking about it all day and told at least 7 people about it Came here to do a bit of work in the mornings, there is wifi, but could only find 1 plug to charge up my laptop."

"Was lovely and refreshing coming here. The atmosphere was very beach feel. The food was delicious. We had the beef brisket and the Mexican dish with scrambled eggs and chorizo. I found it had a bit too many black beans, but the meal in general was lovely"

"The General Café is a fantastic spot for breakfast and coffee. The food, coffee, and relaxed atmosphere all made for a really enjoyable visit. The smash hash breaky bowl was excellent – super fresh with creamy avocado, perfectly cooked eggs, crisp hash potatoes, and a tasty hollandaise sauce that tied everything together. Everything was well seasoned and nicely presented, making the meal feel both hearty and wholesome. Highly recommend The General for anyone looking for a quality brunch and great coffee."

You can really taste the care and attention to detail in the food. The breakfast was the best we’ve had in a long time. What made the visit even more special was the outstanding service from the entire team. Friendly, welcoming, and genuinely attentive — the customer service here is second to none. "⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We had a small baby shower get-together at this café, and the experience was just amazing! We were a big group, but the staff and even the owner were so accommodating and friendly. The food was super fresh and delicious, and the coffee has really improved — it tasted perfect! Thank you for making our celebration so special. Highly recommend this place to everyone!"
